It’s always interesting doing video edits of shoots that @Bryci and I have shot. Sometimes we shoot behind the scenes videos, simply put – some people like them. Myself, I find it interesting to watch the uncensored goings on of behind the scenes. You get to see how the photographer/model interact, what direction is given if any etc. It’s cool to see but some people aren’t interested in these. I think they feel the mystery is gone if they see the behind the scenes videos. Sort of like seeing how a tv show is made, it ruins future showings of that show for some people.

Meh, I look at it like – watch, or don’t watch. You get to decide, right? I figure someone cares because sometimes, I will see our BTS videos stolen and uploaded places – which to me, is like.. wait.. whaaaaaaat? I’m doing great and wow, it’s been a week since I blogged! My bad. I have been so busy getting future Bella developments poppin’ for you.

It’s been an odd week. My eyes are still healing from lasik it seems. I should say my vision. One moment, my vision is crystal clear, better than it’s ever been – next moment it’s like I have three month old contact lenses in. It’s getting better though, day by day. It’s still weird to me, having had glasses since I was four.

Last week was a solid week of the PS4 so that sucked, for my eyes. the PS4 is fucking amazing.

I never really have time to game though to be honest, working far too much. Righting wrongs as well lately, so that’s good. Wow. the year has FLOWN buy hasn’t it? Crazy. Our year was a cluster fuck and that’s being nice. One of the most amazing things about life is that you’re never without options. A few years back, I wrote a book more or less because I challenged myself to write one. I kept starting, and starting, and starting.. but never finishing the damn thing. Not because I wasn’t capable of finishing it, more like, I kept hitting road blocks. One of my shortcomings, or strong points depending on your stance, is that I am very outspoken. I have a loud voice and I have no issues with it being heard. Most likely from being raised by a military father than never let me get a word in edgewise. I’m opinionated, sure, but not to the point that I’m not open minded. One of the things I pride myself on is the ability to change the way I view things.

Simple life tip – just because you view something a certain way, that doesn’t make it the right way. It just means that’s how you’re viewing it *right now*. Perhaps you learn more or tackle it from a different perspective and next thing you know, your view on the topic has changed. Always be open to change, always be open to opportunity and learning. Just something I picked up along the way.

In writing my book I wasn’t sure what I should censor, what I should leave out. I didn’t want to piss anyone off, and if I am told something in confidence, it stays here… so I wasn’t questioning if I should write personal stuff. i’d never, ever, betray someone. Not for money, not for anything. I am loyal to a fault. So after pondering how to move forward with the book, I took an opportunity to complete it. I was on work break with Bryci at her family’s home, many miles from where we live. I’m sitting there in our room with my laptop on my lap and I think.. why not now?

Some of you have jobs you hate. Let’s be honest, most of you have jobs you hate. I was there too, working in a shitty mall. Retail hell. Managing no less. WTF is that. It’s where you go to die is what that is. So what happened? Well, I was challenged to rise above the situation. Create something that wasn’t there. No, not easy by any means but worth it? I probably don’t need to answer that. (of course it was)

It’s not an overnight but if you’re taking one step after another.. you’re moving in the right direction.

So today has been a tough day for me. Well, this week in general I guess. I’ve been on pain killers due to dental surgery last week, and in addition.. in two days, it would have been my Mom’s 77th birthday. She passes in January of this year due to stage 4 cancer of three major organs that somehow went unnoticed by doctors until it was far too late. Upon being diagnosed 3-6 months area to live, she died 4 days later. I was wrecked and truthfully, still am. I try not to think about it, but it creeps up on you. I’d never experienced anything on this level before, and while I recognize it’s part of life and we all have to deal with it at some point… holy fuck balls. That’s all I’ll say about that.

I’ve been trying to keep buys, keep my mind occupied. I’ve been working like crazy, so that’s good. At least something comes out of this negative headspace I seem to be in, pain killers + shitty thoughts = PARTY UP IN HAR!

It’s days like today where I feel like I’m the luckiest man on the planet.

I create a folder on my desktop every month, example – 09-2014

Then everything that happens that month, photos, videos, random whatever… gets swept into that folder. Then that folder gets added to three different drive in three different raids. I’ve learned the hard way how much suck is involved with a hard drive crash. So now, I’m covered.

As a customer of a website, one of the things that pisses me off is when videos are small. I don’t grasp why in 2014 a website would push a video live that is 352 pixels wide. If it was 2000, okay, I understand that as 1080p wasn’t around and webcam resolution was 320 x 240. Hell, in 2000 if you’d have talked about 4K video, they’d have laughed at you.

As a webmaster, I am always trying to give customers what I myself would want. I’m not going to give you some watered down 720 x 540 video and call that shit HD. Some would even go so far as to call that 720p when it’s actually 540p or as it’s known now in many sites, WebHD.

So what does James want for his members? Well, we have always tried to stay ahead of the curve with Bella. In the past couple years or so, we’ve put more weight behind videos. Storylines, role playing, basically having fun. We see sites saying they have HD when their videos are 1280 x 720 and sure, technically that’s HD.. but that’s like saying 1500 pixel photos are high resolution. umm.. tell my huge screen that. My screens are near 3000 pixels each, 1500 pixel images are small no them. When i see high res photos, you’d best offer at least 3000 pixels, no?

Anyway, when it comes to video.. we have been a true HD 1920 x 1080 (not the 1440 x 1080 Sony offers) for years now but we knew you as a member wanted larger and clearer so we bumped to 4K. We decided to do a test run with Bryci.com to see if it was well received.

We started doing 4K videos a couple months back. The members weren’t sure what to think at first. After all, who has a 4k computer screen or tv? Many of you downloaded 4K and your computer was jittery, slow, bumpy or it just wouldn’t play. That just means your graphics card or processor is older, but let me ask you something…

Would you rather have a site with 1080p videos or would you rather have 1080p AND 4K so down the road when you upgrade, and you will… you have a kick ass back catalog of videos to download that are amazing quality? We decided to jump hard into 4K so starting this week.. The Bellas movie to 4K.

Katie went 4K last Sunday. Bryci is already 4K but she’ll be updating on Thursday. Talia is 4K on this upcoming Friday and Aleah is 4K on this upcoming Saturday. Cherry will be 4K next week as well, her videos are in transit.

If for some reason you’re not sure if 4K is for you.. here’s what you need to know. 4K can be played in a computer if it’s within the last 2 years old. If it’s older and you have a good graphics card, you can prob play it still. VLC Player is Apple and for windows, grab the VLC version called HEVC  They’re free and they make 4K their bitch so I’d suggest grabbing them if you don’t have one or the other. Now, this said, if you don’t have a newer system or don’t want 4K.. there is still always 1080p and 720p videos for each of our videos.

So why care about 4K? Well, twice the pixel count for one. So the image is twice as clear, even our 1080’s are now clearer because they are created from a 4K master.  So if you happen to watch one of these on your tv… holy mother of porn you are in for a treat.

If you read my blog, you’ll notice patterns. I seem to write about the same thing more or less. That’s not because I have a boring life, it’s because if you do anything and you’re moderately successful at it.. you know that it’s all about patterns.

How many times do you come across something where a company or person has changed their style or what they do? Trying to make things better, they end up making it worse and now, you don’t much care.
